Post-secondary education as we know it is under attack in Manitoba under the Progressive Conservative government led by Premier Brian Pallister. After years of wage freezes, funding cuts and illegal interference in fair collective bargaining, the Pallister government is moving forward with more changes to post-secondary policy in Manitoba.

The PC government has introduced over 50 bills that will be debated in the coming months, ranging from punitive reforms to labour law, the dismantling of our public education system through the elimination of school trustees and changes that would allow the Minister of Advanced Education to personally set tuition and differential fees.

You can have your say. In Manitoba, anyone can register to present at committee and speak up to 10 minutes. We encourage all MOFA members to speak out against bills that affect our public education system and labour rights, specifically Bills 16, 33 and 64. We are also calling on all members to speak to bills that may meet their personal and professional interests.

  • Register by calling the clerks office at 204-945-3636 or emailing [email protected].
  • Prepare a presentation that is up to 10 minutes. You will be contacted 72 hours before you are set to appear
  • If you can’t appear at your allotted time, you can submit a written presentation.
  • Sign up for one of our webinars on how to present to committee (coming soon—sign up below to stay up to date).
